My goal was to complete this house exactly as shown on the box, and thanks to custom matching paints, my finished house looks exactly like the photo. Biggest problem, some poor quality punch-outs, too many small pieces needing two coats of paint. I didn't like the inside/outside approach to the windows so I adapted at bit and put both up and down parts outside. It worked.

If one is to do it right, you must take your time. The wood does brake easy,lots of sanding.
Some parts need to be painted first. Painting befor the trim is up is a mess.

This is not what it appears to be. Although it said 30 hrs assembly - that's only if you don't care what the finished product looks like! It took me & my husband (both have building experience) 100 hours to get this completed! After you punch out the poorly stamped pieces they ALL need to be sanded, retrimed to fit properly or fabricate your own with the extra wood because they fell apart in your hand! None of the window trims fit properly, chimney's were warped, the list is endless. We wanted the finished product to replicate the box because that the picture we liked and without all our hard work it probably would have fallen apart in a week. The kit should have come with the front door hinges, door knocker and lights on the outside for the completed look, I can't find them anywhere! We will treasure this and make it a new family heirloom because of all the time & hard work. It was our daughters 5th birthday gift & she loves it. Overall, it looks beautiful now that its completed, but it's A LOT OF WORK!!!!

A: The chimney is made out of wood.
Q2: Do I have to cut the windows and doors out and place them on the doll house?
A: No the windows and doors are pre-cut. They just need to be pushed out of the wood sheets they are on. The plastic for the windows needs to be cut.

A: Yes, you will have to put on the shingles, which are included with the kit.

A: The shingles are made of a birch veneer.
